Hi Chuck, I suppose that when I move on to the higher ground facing ford B (this is after my advance Company had been repulsed at the ford) it will take time for me to see how many warriors are crossing over the river to try and cut me off, now Grey gets the time to about 20 minutes (this is after Custer leaves to go north and the warriors try to out flank the L Company skirmish line) so after around the 20 minute mark I will have a good idea what I am facing, and this would be the time to back trail and meet up with Benteen and Reno, that’s if I have not left it too late and the warriors have took control of MTC.

Rosebud: Wisdom. It is not LBH. That is completely correct. It was never meant to be. Never. What it is then is a tactical thinking exercise that borrows the elements of LBH to set a stage. What happened before the start point is using history to set a framework. What happens at the start point is giving the player a word picture of what he confronts. After that it is an exercise in problem solving, nothing more or less. It could just as easily been Waterloo, the Ardennes, or some present day action in Afghanistan. It is an exercise designed to test mental agility and knowledge of tactics. Most importantly it is an exercise to test solutions up against directed critics, who test those theories. The off shoot of this for the for real tactical commander is to put forward your ideas of a tactical solution and test them by critique.

Can anyone rid me of this Quarrelsome Jag. Jag I was trying to be friendly and you treat me like a child, so be it, you can shove you opinions up your arse for all I care, I am trying to play the game here, all you ever do is sit on the fence waiting to jump on anyone who writes anything you don’t agree with, I don’t mind being told when I am wrong, decent people will explain to me where I am making mistakes and do it the right way, with decorum, but I won’t take any sledging off you, so F*** off. Ian. thought so.... Re: Rock Drill2 « Reply #25 on Sept 3, 2012, 6:10pm » Okay, this thread is drifting. Start at 3411, or whenever you think Blue first sent scouts to see in to the valley. Reno is fighting in the valley, and generating massive enemy counterattack. So why not help Reno? Why continue north? If you want to go north, you can stay on the east side of military crests, where Red can not see you. SO you have the option of a stealth movement, or an overt movement. Its not my fault Q can't read and comprehend at the same time.

Ian: You may rid yourself of him. You may ignore what he says. He is hell bent on being an ass hole. So let him be an ass hole. He plays chess by his own rules too I'll bet. You don't have to put up with him, nor does anyone else.
Jag: Unlike another who acts like a jackass on these boards I have no trouble whatsoever reading or comprehending. Nor do I have any trouble playing by the rules that are supposed to govern all who play. That is your department.
There is nothing in that post of Will's that gives you special dispensation. Nothing.

Hi Chuck, when I first logged on this morning, I seen some heated posts, I thought that I would try and start the day and write a post to settle everything down, but it got threw in my face, so what the hell, I will not be treated like that and he can write whatever he wants, because I don’t care.

Ian: I am fully aware of your motives and you were correct in so doing. You can't help the way he is. Only he can. Let it go.

That's unfair Q and you damn well know it. I never personally called you a name during this whole farce this morning. You, however did throw that into the mix with this post. I don't have to defend the post Will put up there to know that it was meant to accommodate my position into the game, I know it. And I didn't assume any other than what I had requested from him in a PM. So if you think you're helping will achieve his goal, you my fine feathered friend would be sadly mistaken. You don't like the thorn that I've stuck in your foot and you want someone to come to pull it out, and there are those out there that will bow to your circumstance and grace, but that are some out there, namely me, who wont.

No you didn't. Consider it an observation of your conduct this morning.
You did attempt to make me appear an idiot, which I very well may be, but not an idiot concerning this subject matter. If you communicated with Will by PM you have an advantage on us.
You can think what you want about me or the subject matter. I am saddened by it, but at the same time will lose no sleep. If I suspected it was me, that is really what is really bothering you in this, and in virtually all your posts, I would be doubly sad. It is not however. You and only you know what it is, and that you will have to settle for yourself.

Rosebud So why won't you give an answer? That way we CAN keep it honest.I take it you mean an answer to why did he go North? I actually haven't a clue why he did not follow Reno never mind why he continued North. But I'll speculate for the sake of discussion. Custer is a blooded soldier. He has seen thousands fed in blocks into the killing machine which was the rifled musket. He been through bloody universities of Mayre's Heights,Coldharbour,Pickett's charge. At the Washita his sharpe shooters slaughtered women and children trying to escape across the frozen river. He left Elliot to his fate without a glance back.He had deserters shot out of hand. So no I don't believe he gave a tinker's fart for Reno and his men and their only value was in what they could contribute to his victory. Whatever motivated him after his view from 3411 was not Reno's health. I don't think an attack down the bluffs was feasible and retracing his route back to Ford A or Benteen was more than his pride could stand. So Benteen had to come to him.Unfortunately the Indians got there first. I give no hostages to fortune here. All the above is just speculation. Ian Nice piece of reasoning. Richard,
Great post. That is exactly what I believe. To judge any stuation by what Custer does is a mistake. His only concern was about himself. I would have posted something similar but I thought it would violate the rules of the game. Rosebud said that Custer saw Reno was in no trouble, its his rockdrill and you are bound by his perameters.Truth is I believe someone, should start a seperate thread on what Custer saw from 3411, and why he headed North. According to the rules of the game we cant debate that in this thread, but I think it would lead to a very interesting discussion.
Again well done Richard Be Well Dan I hope it is OK that I moved this over here. It is using the parameters set in Rock Drill 2 If one were to agree with this move ( you know I don't but) would it not be possible that Custer knows Reno is in trouble but it should leave Custer an unobstructed avenue to attack a defenseless village? Still unaware of the total magnitude of the village? Rosebud

Justin, I have just posted a film regarding what Custer may have been able to see from the bluffs, I seen your post after I had posted mine, so maybe I should have posted it here or started a new thread with it, sorry for any confusion.
