There's no doubt the Yankees will rebound. Anybody remember the Yankees of the late 60's? Talk about hard times Lorraine! Roger Repoz? I believe that was when Dan Topping owed them....the point is that King George is getting very old...will the new king know how to run the palace when the king is gone? But as Forrest Gump said they have more money than Davy Crockett!
Managers of course don't win World Series, players do, but it helps when players love the gipper, Don't it?

I'm crazy with all the pro teams in Boston that are massacreeing all takers. The Red Sox, The Patriots, and the Celtics are back with a new version of "The Big Three"! . . . (not intersted in hockey, unless Bobby Orr makes a comeback)

Enjoy it while it lasts. New York has a way of taking so much, then biting back. Just read my Benteen posts...
But... I will tell you, I am delighted for the Red Sox and I am delighted with the Patriots. Other than the New York Giants, my favorite football teams are the well-run, well-disciplined pros, and Belichick is certainly all of that. In this age of mediocrity, Belichick will have none of it. It's remarkable how he can take advantage of other teams' weaknesses, and it is especially so in this age of parity. The fact that others do not look at the sport in that light relegates them to the also-ran status. Look at Norv Turner.
I do believe Belichick will go downas one of the three or four greatest coaches of all time.
Best wishes, Fred.

The Yankees will rebound strongly in 2008, just as the 7th did in '68. Girardi has been recalled to active duty just as Custer was recalled in '68, and look at the year he had. Rivera and Posada will both return to the Yanks, and their pitching staff will be stronger than ever with their new crop of "young bulls"---Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy, and Hughes, all fresh from "the Point" and brimming with talent will join solid veterans Pettite and Wang.
The plan is to send "Me-Rod" to the Red Sox, then the Yanks will sign Lowell as their new 3rd baseman. Wait till next year.
