Trish, what was that horned beastie I wasn't supposed to mention, or was it the famous outlaw Billy the Kid? In any case, why do all you people get so excited about a game of rounders?
H Put those bats down guys!!!

Trish:
As my granddaughter now says all the time "UH OH!" The Phils are in deep, the Sox should win easily with their overall pitching. The Yankees are very beatable by the Tribe.
Gordie, Lemon, Garcia, Wynn and Feller - Newhouser to spot. Mossi and Narleski in the pen.

The Yanks made the mistake of sending Wm Fetterman out in game one. He was supposed to ride right thru the Tribe, but seems to have run into an ambush. No more fooling around. Tomorrow night we send in the big guns. Its time to return the Tribe to their reservation.

Ouch, Gordie!
There has to be a cure. Why are the Cubs zero-for the Western Division when it comes to the modern-day playoffs? Why? Why?
At least we ain't in the Philly pickle--losing games 1 and 2 at home. I have a hunch the Rox are gonna go all the way ...
Anyhoo, we're back at Wrigley on Saturday. The 5.00 start time necessitates that I'll be spending a little less time with Joan Croy and the Hoopskirt Gang, darn it all. Drat!

The Cubs are toast. Always have been, probably always will be. Mordechai has been dead too long. And while I really like AZRanger, Arizona doesn't belong in baseball.
I'm surprised about the Phillies. I think Colorado is awful and doesn't belong in the playoffs. When the Mets self-immolated, I thought for sure Philadelphia was heading to the World Serious.
These days I'm a Yankee fan, but I am actually surprised they made the playoffs. The only reason they did was because the best team in beisball-- the Tigers-- pulled off a bigger "mets" than the Mets. Having said that, I figured they would clobber the Indians, to me, the only AL team they would be able to beat in October. (I have no faith in either Indian pitcher, Red Sabathia or Roman Nose Carmona. To me, they're both overrated; hard throwers and watch out boys! No more than that. Then Carmona goes out and does his Sandy Koufax impersonation. Go figure.)
So now, with the final thread probably breaking tomorrow, I will be forced to don my Mohican Red Sox cap and watch them beat the AAA Pacific Coast League champs, the California-Los Angeles-Anaheim-Disneyland Angels.
God... the DH, the wild card! Whatever happened to those 8-team leagues, "Duke," "Pee Wee," "Oisk," "The Say-Hey Kid," "Country," "The Mick," "The Splendid Splinter," "Babe," "The Iron Horse," "Joltin' Joe," "The Big Cat," and Esso and Veedol gasoline. Woolworth's, where are you?!
Best wishes, Fred the Poor Loser
"Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser." "Go for the throat." "Take no prisoners!" "Kill, Fang, kill!" "If you're going to take Vienna, take Vienna!"

Trish:
I am so sorry!! BUT there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it is not an approaching freight train. I have discovered the root cause of the Cubs Curse - the opposition insists on showing up.
Gordie, I'm sorry, so sorry, please accept my apologies. I was too young..................

Karl--
That phrase is taken. Remember Brooklyn... ? You'll have to get a new one. Ask the PR clowns for the New York Mets. They come up with a loser every year, plastered all over Shea Stadium.
Best wishes, Fred.

The big game for the Yankees comes Monday night as they return to the Stadium against the Indians.
We sent Crook after them in game two, and despite receiving a message from him assuring us of a great victory that night, it seems his assurances may have been greatly exaggerated. More recent reports have the Indians winning game 2 in extra innings due to the opportune arrival of their allies from Lake Erie (the Gnats). We have been unable to contact Gen. Crook for an explanation. Reports say he has last been seen fishing in Lake Erie.
Due to Crook's fumbling, the Yanks are now down 2 games to none with the Tribe. The decision has been made to unleash the 7th Cavalry on them tomorrow night. Its time to strike up the Garryowen.
