I have long been fascinated with this topic and I find joy is discussing issues with other folk who share this interest. The enigma of the battle, to me, is that the inability to ever discover what happened gives birth to countless theories as to what may have occurred. This forum, and several others, produce an excellent outlet for discovery. I am thankful to be here and I am looking forward to meeting and exchanging thoughts with such an outstanding group of individuals.

Being a typical outstanding individual, I take it upon myself to bid you welcome to the board. Don't forget that you can contribute just as much as you get. Every new point of view has the capacity for providing a missing or overlooked tidbit of information.

hello
my name is eamonn, I found the board quite by accident but I am thoroughly enjoying it. I am a recent member and should have made an introduction earlier. I have been interested in American Indians since I was a child, I am very pro Indian and have strong views so be careful, I am constantly scanning the boards!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I should introduce myself; Brad B. Butturff. I'm the fellow married to your longtime member Laurie Kruse. Now she goes by Laurie Kruse Butturff. Laurie and I have been together now for quite sometime but it seems like only recently this bug about Custer has caught on with me. Actually I'm finding the whole history of the western expansion fascinating. I imagine I will post a bit more in time but just wanted to say 'hello' right now.

Allow me to formally welcome you to the board. You will find some real experts here on the First Nations of the [Northern] Plains. The 'First' is a matter of opinion, since the ones we usually talk about gpt there by kicking out others, after having been dispossessed themselves. I do not consider myself one of the experts, only conversant enough with the culture to put it into context with some events.
I know you've already been active on the 'Indian' threads, since I do read them [mostly] and you will have noticed, I feel sure, that many of the contributors thereto rarely venture onto most of the other threads. Most people here are like me - they don't say anything unless they have something of interest to posit.
Hang in there,
Gordie

Hello yourownselves, and welcome to the board. Don't wait to post - if you have questions of a general or specific nature, ask away - and don't be bashful about it. We all started somewhere.

I was one of those 3256 fans in Ebbets field 9-22-54 sitting in centerfield upper deck, when Karl Spooner struck out 15 NY Giants. It was the geatest pitching performance I had ever seen, even to this day. However I must have been the only Giant fan in the park. I said to myself, how can we beat Cleveland when this rookie is making us look foolish.
It is sad to think how great this kid might have been. That's life.

I hate the Giants, hear me? Hate them!!! But I love your moniker, and I, for one, welcome your participation here. It is also nice to know you had seen Spooner pitch and even nicer for you to say what you did, above. From an old, o-o-o-o-l-d Dodger fan, thank you. Best wishes, Fred.

Hello to all. I'm Grandma and I am new to the boards. I found this site searching for information on my family tree. I have branches at Crow Creek reservation, Fort Thompson SD. and Standing Rock reservation, Fort Yates ND. I have been spending many hours reading your wonderful posts. Please keep them coming! Thank you, Grandma

Hey everyone. I'm Frank, 32 year old guy from Helsinki, Finland. My main interest is with the Plains Indians history (and through that I'm interested to always learn more of the battle too ofcourse). I'm no professor and not nearly as educated with the knowledge of history as so many in here are but I'm doing my best and one day you all will know my name LOL... ;D. I am happy to join in and I'm trying to learn as much as possible, it is a great opportunity to be here among so many people with so much knowledge and information. Thanks for having me. ps. I'm a Finn and my english ain't always perfect so if you some time don't understand what I'm saying or something, don't hesitate to ask what I meant . I got ok "basic" english but sometimes with some rare words I got small problems... well, always learning more and more, thats called life I guess.

Frank:
We already know your name, unless it's really one of them hard Finnish names like Ben or Jimmy. I've never been to Finland; but hope one day to do so.
On behalf of the other non-professors on this board, let me say "welcome" and also "don't worry too much about your language skills." As long as I'm around there ain't nuthin' to worry about.

Frank--
If I spoke any language as well as you speak English, I would be happy. I'm still struggling with first-year French which I took 53 years ago.
I think I may speak for several of us on this site wshen I say I am flattered that you would take such an interest in the history of my country.
Very best wishes, Fred. (The un-professor)

Welcome, Frank. My name is also Frank, and I think your English is outstanding. I'm a native Texan, and I still catch hell from Fred when I say "Y'all."
