The principal reason for confusion over where Reno skirmished, is because there were eventually TWO Garryowens.

I was a little confused by a blog image. I fell into this text in sniffin out the reality of fighting around Celles at Xmas 1944. So www.normandyamericanheroes.com/blog/2nd-armored-division-roncey-pocket-82nd-reconnaissance-battalion working through 82nd Recon stuff the linked blog throws up an image titled ' Soldiers of 82nd Reconnaissance Battalion working with the boys of the 41st Regiment '. It's the image after that of a knocked out Panzer 5. Anyway, something isn't right about that image being for either 82nd recon or 41st Infantry. Anyone agree?

I wasn't aware of US Regiments in Europe being issued camouflaged uniforms such as those shown in the image given for the 41st Regt. meeting with 82nd Recon. It is the image of troops immediately below the '252' Panther.
I reckon the image could be 41st Infantry 'Division' which deployed to Oz and fought New Guinea. The research put into these blogs is remarkable and growing in detailed content and I take a coffee break with them now and again. The uniforms struck me as odd, erm........... that's me I guess.
I've got BBC news on at the moment. That's Iran gone of the rails........ nuking Pakistan now. I hope they work out their intelligence problems before they take on Turkey. I would suggest that they learn how to read maps and sniff out their Russian sleepers. The US just bombed Yemen. Hmmmm.......... OK, let Pakistan have it! OMG.....
How's thing
Great find of that recovery crew and the Panther. Truly surprised but then that is your game.

Yeah, I knew about the camouflage uniforms in the ETO, only four US formations wore them, mainly as an experiment. The 2nd and 30th Infantry Divisions, the 17th Engineer Battalion and the 41st Armoured Infantry regiment, of the US 2nd Armoured Division. I think only a battalion in each division was equipped with them.
They soon ditched the experiment after a number of friendly fire incidents resulted in casualties, because they resembled the camo smocks used by the Waffen SS, by August 1944 they were replaced with standard OD 1943 uniforms.
The Iranians would cause an argument with their own shadow, they are just trying to get at the west by using proxies to do their fighting for them, just got to see if the youth of Iran actually break free of the regime which is keeping the country in the dark ages.

Side note part XXXIV:
The Panther is my all time WW2 favorite tank. Would love to drive one to work every day.

Great. It was 41st then. Saves me one of those niggling todo list problems. I always thought the Greyhound was a sexy little thing Boys and their toys. As for getting hands on a Panzer V, would you go Wehrmacht or SS?

Some more images from another Flickr Portfolio. If WWII AFV's is your duck, then enjoy. Remarkable stuff. I am turning 39-45 off, 'cos I know i'll end up at The Battle of Thermopolae (1941) and never leave. Amazing place.
