Not got this book...yet.
However, it must be the first I’ve read the blurb about that states it’s from the horse’s perspective, odd but intriguing.
That said, does anybody know what it actually covers ?

Afraid not. Doran did the horse angle although possibly having been thrown and looking up one's rear end. Horses in general or the general's horses? Tough one. Doran has a few suprises buried away.

The roles of horses in my main subject tend to be overlooked, even though most of the men who escaped from Isandhlwana only managed to do so by being mounted, the horses themselves sustaining wounds, injuries and death in doing so, saving the lives of their riders, similarly happened later in the campaign at Hlobane when a mounted force was routed.
I acquired an interesting book called ‘Heroic Horses’ plus heard of famous ones called the likes of Sgt Reckless and Bill The Bastard.
There was a service set up during WW1 for the treatment and care for horses wounded in war called the Blue Cross Fund, a replica print of one of their posters is actually on my wall.
In the U.K. started in the 20th Century was a type of animal VC called the Dickin Medal plus purple poppies on Remembrance Day are dedicated to horses and other animals in war.
