Why does his posting make everything so big and cumbersome?

Fred, I've tried to read it but my multi-focal contacts tend to go blurry on me. He's had a couple intriguing ideas but they must not be very strong as he never backs anything up with explanation. He basically seems to post stuff that may already be all over the internet such as the Ree naratives. I've looked at where he stores these montages and looked at some of his personal photos. He kinda resembles Gordie and is of similar age. The photos aren't in America and my number one suspect is in Switzerland which is nice country, by the way. My number two suspect is Hunk's next door neighbor.
If I had the battle all figured out like he does, then I'd be on a mission from DC to explain it here.
He never does make a point. In fact maybe his mission is just to try to mislead everybody with malarky. Here I thought I was the only one that did that. Maybe he is just a saboteur/virus attacking this board.
Hunk, we can stick him where the sun doesn't shine but I don't think Reddirt wants him in Okielahoma.

Hunk, we can stick him where the sun doesn't shine but I don't think Reddirt wants him in Okielahoma. bc I don't see why not. "Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain" is it not? That means a windbag like HR would not be noticed. Hunk

Only if the south wind blew him into Kansas. BC might catch him going up the interstate.

Finally one I could read by moving up to a foot away from my 26" screen. However the answers to his questions are obvious and he must already know the answers anyway since HR has the battle all figured out.
My question to HR is why would Girard lie? He is the first one to make such an allegation. Any such lies seem to be anti Custer and supportive of Reno. I know Reno thought he was lying about the Reno being drunk issue. HR, what are Girard's motives here? If he was lying about the stuff at the Crow's nest because Custer chastised him, then it is also likely he lied about Reno being drunk.
HR, I know you have avoided getting into an intelligent discussion about anything you posted, so I'm giving you another chance to have an intelligent discussion about your latest montage. I assume you are capable but correct me if I'm wrong. I've assumed wrong before.

Peter Thompson does have a reason and just because you can't figure it out doesn't mean it doesn't exist. He was not required to maintain notes and write his narrative. If he left out everything that he did not see himself or information that he did not determine to be accurate it would be a very short narrative.
In that story piece that HR posted Thompson did not know which companies were with Custer and he had Benteen in charge of the pack train. Thompson made up his information as he went rather than researched it for a factual basis. It wasn't as if he published it in 1876.

Hi AZ Ranger, many people dismiss Thompson and there is no reason as far as l can so far discern, besides the fact that it wasn't him that met Trumpeter Martin, what a pity that was. It had to be Private Watson, to my mind. That Thompson's work was fiction is the accepted undercurrent to his works, there are more than one, that is rubbish to my mind because he was where he said he was. Where matters get confusing is his firefight at the ford or crossing place. l dealt with that, the problem is solved. There are no problems with his account in Black Hills Trails other than he may not have killed the chief he shot at.
Hi Bc, l would suggest the allegation is anti Gerard. Why? l don't know, if l did l would have stated so. What is said is that he did not see what he stated at the time he said he saw it. Therefore he lied and Lt. Cooke by Thompson's account, was else where. Trumpeter Martin Bears this out also. As l said, 5 companies were obliterated, l'm sure the Lacota & Cheyenne had good reason for showing no mercy.
Red Star's account of the discussion with scouts is interesting matter.Custer was attacking the village at that time and the scouts were aimed at the pony herd, at the village. Gerrard tells a different story.
Gerard's meeting with Cooke underpins the timing applied to Gray based timelines and the consecutive advance, Reno first then Custer. That did not take place. Gerard could not have met Cooke, he was with Custer's command as it watered horses and Custer viewed the valley from the bluffs, where he was seen by Gall. Custer reached Medicine Tail as Reno began his skirmish.
Gerard's way of it is unsupported, he was alone. Reno specifically challenged Gerrard on the matter at the Reno Inquiry. Cooke wasn't near the little hill and the villages hadn't been stirred to give battle when Gerrard said that they were. He lied and the entire concept of modern theory of Custer's attack is built upon it..

What were the 5 companies with Custer and did Peter Thompson identify them correctly?
Peter Thompson was unaware of the battalion assignments and thought Benteen was in charge of the pack train even though they went in different directions.
It could certainly be his view and be factually incorrect without him lying but one must discount his ability to present facts.

HR by the way Watson is ahead of Thompson according to Thompson and Martin sees the beginning of the Reno's fight. How does Peter Thompson's account fit with that.

Hi AZ Ranger, Thompson knew the companies assigned to the battalions and wings, therefore either Company G was reassigned to the left wing along with Reno, or the type setter publishing the book made an error, for my money - it's the typo error. Thompson's bio is interesting, he was a decent and bright guy. His feeling was that Reno let Custer down, many share that opinion its a debate. Thompson bumped into several opponents, camp guards or warriors chasing the lost herd, he abandoned his mount, diverted to a defensive position near a pillar of rocks and hunkered down. His horse was recovered during the advance along the bluffs, and he was welcomed and questioned by Sgt.Kanipe at that time. Kanipe obviously fely that Thompson's intel was of little use to the officers. It is possible that Thompson moved into Cedar Coulee and high ground beyond, he went defendsive up there somewhere and the pillar of rocks he mentions was identified also by Godfrey. Where it gets interesting is his trip after to Watson down to the river flat. I'm putting up a couple of items that relate. One post is broader format, so i've dropped it onto post #1, back at the start of the topic

Hello Bill. I'm still trying to figure out the angle on Girard and what his agenda is. Maybe you can que him up in another montage to explain it.
Whenever we schedule a trip to England, we'll probably be driving through your AO outside of London. My wife's ancestors are from the Yeovil area between Bristol and Weymouth. We'll probably have to do some hunting through cemeteries.

HR When you state what Thompson would know on what to you base it? His hand written diary still exists in his family. Do have proof that it the printed one is in error.
I am not sure about military service but a private would not be privileged to officer's discussions or decisions.
The 12 companies got together when before leaving FAL?
The editor did not make the mistake that they were still in a wing command structure moving down Reno Creek that solely rests with Peter Thompson.

I'd still recommend this be taken off of Independent Research and moved somewhere else. Anyone hitting this first wouldn't assume much of value is here. It distracts and detracts from Markland and others' work. It's not research, much less independent research. It's designed to be confrontational for confrontation sake alone, although it's just revelatory of the naivite and ignorance of the author and as such inspires the arguments the administrator says cannot exist here.

I agree DC this is not research it is opinion along with cutting and pasting portions of others materials. At best it belongs in the collections threads.
