I'd still like to slip up there for a couple days next week but I have a feeling it will require scuba gear.

You would not have needed scuba gear but winter coats were nice.

Next year we will be there on the 25 in the middle of all the tourist. Tori and myself are having a dutch oven cook off. She has a D. O. now and I hope she is practicing.
On our trip this year the rain and flooding prevented us from going into the timber. We did ride the Benteen Scout area in the rain but did not try to follow the Darling route. We observed how far up the drainages you would have to go to avoid the ups and downs and the defiles. It would add numerous miles and would be most unlikely since you can't see straight down the drainages.
We took lots of pictures and it confirmed to me that the terrain descriptions by those with Benteen were accurate in the Darling area from what we observed.

Dan
As a young Ranger well almost young I ate out of cans and plastic bags. After a while I took up the cooking of better tasting foods. Since we have enough down time and there are no cooks as in the Marine Corps we got very good at it.
There is no doubt among my fellow Rangers that I am a Marine. We just hired a couple more Marines and life is good.
Down to 2 years left at the end of August.

Steve, what are your trip dates and what are the costs for horse rental and staying at the 7th Ranch? I may switch plans and head up there for the CBHMA convention. They have their symposium on Friday, June 22 and on Saturday they have a bus trip to Custer's camp on the Rosebud and the Sitting Bull Sun Dance site.
