I am not very familiar with the area leading up to the LBH valley. What sort of route was implied by the "cross country" idea in Kanipe's message?

It wasn't bad. It was low rolling terrain mostly. It would only have saved time if Kanipe had the sense to lead them in the direction Custer was going, not where he left the column. Probably just would have gotten the pack train wiped out a well.

Gumby, I was not aware that any other men from other companies fell out after Custer and Reno split. I know there were a couple of other legitimate messengers, and those legitimately assigned to the packs etc. but I was talking about stragglers. I am not aware of any, other than 'C' Troop men. I'd be very interested in hearing about those stragglers from other troops.
