I think the map needs a goose egg over a larger area, as both Steve and I have eluded to. We must dismiss I think and of the fords being a particular spot designated by an arrow, but rather a number of spots in a general area. The Real Bird Ford under those conditions would be included in the goose egg for Ford B, Just as at least three separate spots that constitute Ford(s) C. There are probably four or more in the Ford D area. Ford A is probably wider than just one place as well, although I have no knowledge of it. I think we know most of D is obliterated by a change in river course, but the one Steve points to, plus the one by the bridge are in all probability its right and left boundery markers,

I am going to the battlefield again in June and add the D fords to my list. Seems I remember a discussion years ago where Gordie was addressing the D fords. That there is a ford near the highway is not relevant if they never went there in my opinion. There are numerous fords between Ford A and the highway crossing of the LBH. Still haven't heard if that Ford B on the map is MTF at the confluence of MTC and the LBH. It appears to me to be closer to the Real Birds crossing area used in reenactments. Regards AZ Ranger When in June do you plan to be there?
Regards, Tom

I agree, having just read this thread.
When we say "Ford x", it is just a convenient abbreviation for river crossing/s in a defined area that provide access to/from the eastern bluffs rather than a bluff face.
Ford D just means a river crossing or crossings to the north of the NA village/s and in the direction of the fleeing non-combatants that we think GAC was reconnoitring towards from battle ridge/LSH.
