Montrose Thank you for the site information. I enjoyed his camera work. I am always amazed as to harsh the terrain is along with very poor soil.
Regards Dave

Beth Was your gg grandfather buried at Shiloh? And if so was his grave marked? Regards Dave We believe he is buried at Shiloh. His name was Albert Gallatin Corbin Company D, 16th Iowa Volunteers This is what is available on Shiloh National Cemetery and they have the last name spelled wrong. www.shilohbattlefield.org/cemetery/detail1.asp?GRAVE=112

Beth Your gg grandfather and his regiment were certainly in the middle of that horrific Sunday at Shiloh. They had gotten off their transport, given ammunition for the first time and placed at the edge of Jones' field on the far right of the Union lines. They entered battle with 785 and sustained losses of 17 KIA, 101 WIA and 13 captured for a loss rate of about 17%. If you have any further interest in Shiloh and the 16th WI please send me a PM and I will gladly share more information. Regards Dave

Regards Dave I sent you a private message with the information. It's best to keep emails and too much personal information off the board because they are viewable to the public. Beth

The poster is Apollocuster. SOme of his analysis has errors, but I like the series. I agree, totally. It is a clever idea and he does an admirable job of it. Best wishes, Fred.

Chris,
Well it certainly prevents me from ever re-joining that board. It should be interesting to see the reactions-- if any-- if he posts. I actually tried to sign on using the old password... and that was after double-checking the boards and the various names. It threw me for a quick loop.
Best wishes, Fred.

Dave, Welcome to Never-Never Land. I hope you enjoy it here; there are some very good people on this site and they know their stuff cold. Now, If I may be so presumptuous, I would like to give you my opinions on your "library" of LBH books. An absolute necessity. Marvelous book; one of the most enjoyable to read. No opinion. No opinion. Great book; a must own. I read it a long time ago. Out-dated. I have wanted to read this for some time. I understand it is the definitive study of GAC. A good book... not great. A good primer, but too many mistakes and way too opinionated. Never read it. Not very good, in my opinion. No opinion... yet. I have it, but have not been able to work up the guts to read it. Need blood pressure medicine next to me. Excellent book!! Don't know this one; no opinion. Decent book; nice pictures. Outstanding book. Anything by Donohue is. Another outstanding book. Great comparison photos. A "need-to-read"-type book. Time-line is dreadful, but the rest is excellent. No opinion. I won't read this, because I knew the author and I knew his opinions. I have enough opinions of my own. If he were still alive, I would have bought it, but otherwise... I'll pass. Best wishes, Fred.
