How do. Just discovered this site, and it's great! My name's Curt, and have been a Custerphile since I was a kid, which was a long time ago.. Would anybody know of any Indian Wars Cavalry reenactment groups, preferably mounted in the San Diego, Orange or Riverside County areas of southern California? I've had to take a ten year hiatus from this great activity, and would really like to join up again. I haven't been able to contact my old outfit, 7th Cavalry Troop E, which was based in Colton Ca. So hopefully someone knows if they are still around, in particular the Troop C.O. Cisco Lopez, a great guy and cavalry historian.. If not perhaps another outfit in the vicinity..
Thanks and I look forward to being a member of your board. Curt

Curt:
There is a special board for re-enactors - strangely enough bearing the same title, or a slight variation. That is where you will find good contact information. Although I am not into the pastime, being old and decrepit, I do recall, I think [old, remember] seeing someone mention California, but I'm not sure if is was Southern or Northern. For a good discussion, you might PM [personal message] our "keogh" who is a re-enactor of some note.
Just click on his name, on one of his posts, and that will take you to his profile, where you can do the PM thingee.
Welcome to the boards, and good luck in finding what you're after.
Gordie, they say it never rains in southern California...........it pours, man, it pours.............................
PS I hope you get a huge rainfall down your way soon.

Welcome, Curt!
I took the liberty of posting your message on the Indian Wars board. If you look at the main page, you'll see that board two below this one. I hope someone can help you.
I'm glad you found us!
Diane

I have ridden with members of your old E Company in various reenactments over the years. Cisco is a great guy, highly respected in reenactment circles, however, he has not been active now for the past 5 years or so. I do hope he returns one day to active duty. Troop E still exists, tho their numbers have dropped down significantly since the days when Cisco was its C.O. About 3 or 4 members of E Company still attend the Real Bird Pageant each summer up in Montana. If you are interested in contacting one of their officers, I can send you their contact information. Let me know. In the meantime, I can recommend my own website, The Custer Clan at groups.msn.com/TheCusterClan which is focused primarily on reenacting the Custer/Indian Wars period. Most of the Custer era reenactors are members of that site. welcome back and garryowen, Keogh

Curt, I couldn't email you, so figured I'd respond here. Just wondering what part of So. Cal. you live. I'm in Carlsbad, 30 miles up the coast from San Diego. I don't know of any groups like you're inquiring about regarding the Indian Wars. There's a group that is active in the reenactment of the Battle of San Pasqual in Escondido. Anyway, just wondering where you live. Please feel free to email me if you like.
