I was told that the places named above are being considered for the 2009 conference. There is some confusion about the Fort Walsh entry. It was reported as Fort Walsh, Kansas, but the only Fort Walsh I can find is in Saskatchewan which, the last time I checked, is no where near Kansas! Your vote probably won't matter, but it will be interesting to see if members and the powers-that-be come to the same conclusion.

I have to tell you, Diane, I voted for FAL. I would actually go to that thing-- if I were still alive!-- if it were held there. I guess that's the kiss of death.
Best wishes, Fred.

FAL.
BTW - where is 2008 going to be? I'm probably going to miss stopping by at North Platte, since my "big circle" trip is looking to have too large a circumference for my frail body, and I'm likely to cut straight north for home after visiting my son at Fort Carson, postponing my LBH visit until next year.
Freddy: hang in until 2009 and I'll meet you there. That'll give us both something to stay alive for!!!!!!!

Here I am, agreeing again. FAL, no doubt about it. Of course, I won't be a spring chicken either in 2009--48. Ugh.

Gordie--
If you promise to be there in 2009, I'll go. Otherwise, I don't know. I usually don't care for these group things, but there are some people I would love to meet.
And Trish, if you are complaining about your age...
Best wishes, Fred.

I would definitely be at FAL. My ex-wife is from Bismarck. On second thought, maybe I'll stay home.

My ex-wife is from Bismarck. I thought that town was abandoned several years ago.

Compared to Pierre, Bismarck is a large city. I mean, come on, they even have an Applebees. ;D

I was really hoping you'd jump on Medora. I've been wanting to go there for years. You could swing by FAL after the conference and see all there is to see in about 2.2 minutes. IMHO, the last conference at FAL was boring. The best time I had was when Chuck and I went building hunting in Bismarck and found where D.F. Barry's studio had been.

Gordie,
Even-year conferences are east of the Mississippi River. The 2008 conference will be in Hagerstown, Maryland, and we will visit Frederick and Harper's Ferry, West Virginia.

I thought you wuz in Florida, Fred [is that next to Maryland?], but I'll definitely meet you in FAL in 2009, if that's where the Conference is held. I was gonna go there this year, but have changed my itinerary, so as to keep both my feet attached to the ends of my legs.
Is there some particular reason why they can't hold these things in, say, Vegas? We all know Custer would have been all over that - cavorting with the showgirls and writing innocent little letters to Old Standby, who would be patiently waiting for him to get himself killed by some mob enforcers [when he didn't pay his losses] so that she could cash in on his name, fame and like that..................
I wuz gonna go to North Platte, but the hotel room was already booked.

Gordie--
Didn't you hear? They changed this year's conference to Las Vegas. At the Stardust.
And I won't be in sunny, downtown Florida much longer. If Diane and her husband lived closer, we might have re-thought our decision, but they live so far away from us, it would take less time and money to visit them by flying from La Guardia.
It's a good thing my wife's name isn't Mary. Can you imagine? "Hey! Come to our place, Frederic, Mary's land." Coises! I'd nevah liv' it down!
Best wishes, Freddie the Rat.

Fred:
I wuz gonna say: "I wish I'd said that!!" but upon more sober reflection, I am glad I didn't.
Keep thinking: 2009, 2009, 2009...............
Best,
Gordie

It's the lobotomy, Gordie. Every now and then the scar tightens up and gives me a headache. It's the humidity.
