In case you didn't hear the news by e-mail or see it on the reenactors' board, Corky Reed died at his home in San Francisco last week. Melani sent this photo of Corky from the reenactment in Hardin last June. Corky and "Libbie Custer" are on either side of Melani's son Daniel. (Thanks, Melani!)

Hey all:
Corky has been a "house guest" ;D with my family since last fall. I will be making my first excursion to LBH this June to bring him to the reenactment, per his wishes.
I'm traveling with Lynn "Wrangler" Owens, and there will be a fair contingent of his CA friends (and SUVCW brothers) making this excursion.
It is our plan to have a memorial service for him on Wier Point on Saturday, perhaps at Sunset?? More info to follow.
For those who new Corky, his cavalry uniform, tin cup, haversack, mess kit, and two of his hats (including his Andrews hat) have been donated for display at the Ft. Abraham Lincoln bunk house.
His CW uniforms and accouterments will be displayed on a mannequin at the Alcatraz prison visitor's center and theater.
PS: Does anyone out there know of a piper that will be there, and that I can contact? Please let me know.

It was great speaking with you, coehornboy! Thanks very much for calling, and thanks very much for all of the efforts you have made on behalf of Corkster on the Loose! I doubt Corky expected parts of him to exist at Fort Abraham Lincoln, Alcatraz, and the Battlefield. I know he would have loved it. We all should have friends as kind and dedicated as you.
I wish I could be there on Weir Point, but it won't be possible this year. Good luck with finding a piper.
Best wishes, Diane
