My husband is going up to West Point Thursday to attend graduation. While there, he has been assigned the task of locating the Crow's Nest that Vern Smalley mentioned in his article in the March issue of the LBHA Newsletter.
Someone asked if a certain painting (I think) was still on display at West Point, and I said I would have my husband check when he's up there. I can't remember what it was. If you know, please refresh my rapidly disappearing memory!
Thanks! Diane

Two suggestions as to which painting you might be thinking of, Diane: 'Custer's Last Stand' by Harold von Schmidt, mentioned in the 'There was a Man' thread in the 'Other Media' section of this forum. The Point acquired this painting from Esquire magazine, which had commissioned it.
If it's not the von Schmidt painting you're thinking of, wasn't there mention some time back of a painting of Henry M. Harrington at West Point. If it wasn't Walt who actually brought it up, he's sure to know about it at least.
Hope this helps jog your memory!
Regards, GAC

GAC, Neither rings a bell, but my bell is a bit cracked. I don't think it was the von Schmidt, but I'll check with Walt about a Harrington portrait. Thanks -- and congratulations on having an excellent memory! Diane
