It was suggested, somewhere..... possibly at Chicago, that he threw his weapons away. I wondered if this is Custerwest having a laugh. Reno was arrived on the hill and as Benteen arrived, the Major was using his pistol to pot shot hostiles across the river. A part of the Scotch dust and merriment which warps discussions.
