As I’m not tech savvy, but prefer pen and paper anyway, I’ve been looking for ages on the best note taking techniques, as I intend as some point writing a paper/thesis about my main subject. The Analog Zettelkasten system looks ideal and in the process of putting one together, but not too ‘professional’ to start with, just finding the best process to store and use all the bits of info picked up over the years. I guess most stick with computers are they are so organised and don’t take up extra room with hundreds of notecards, etc., but if you lose the internet, or info is accidentally wiped, you are kinda stuck without some sort of back-up. Additionally, I still have the booklets covering modules from a writing course I was going to do from home, but life got in the way, however, they are there as reference, should I wish to re-apply. They cover various types of writing. I do very much like Investigative Journalism and civilian/military law, which can be quite detailed and complicated, but both have assisted me greatly in my studying of military history, though I’m sure hundreds of notes will stem from these too.
