I've recently read this book (first published in 2014 by Casemate Publishers), which is the posthumous work by Gordon Harper. The amount of research and details by the author seems impressive. Noteworthy is Chapter 9, which is the author's reconstruction of Custer's Fight and supports the 'North to South Flow' hypothesis. The book includes also a chapter (10) written by Gordon Richard, which instead follows the more common 'S. to N. Flow' hypothesis.

I rememeber it used to be very pricey, so I have never bought it myself. When I checked now, it is not THAT expensive anymore, not sure what it would come to with shipping included, but might give it a closer look.
There was some sort of "controversy" regarding that last chapter, since it (as I understand it and you yourself write) seems to take another approach/view than the author's. I believe it has been discussed here previously, but I'm not familair with the details.
Do you recommend it?

Harper's work was published in tandem with a huge and worthwhile appendix as companion. Both are excellent. They are available on Google Play books and other e formats, which is how I obtained them way back. Reading from tablet, laptop, book reader, is not everyones cup of stuff but it suits me for idle time out and about. In UK the Kindle is £12 and Google £15 each. Of the two, if you buy, take the companion first. It's slightly more bite sized whilst getting used to the format. books.google.co.uk/books/about/The_Fights_on_the_Little_Horn_Companion.html?id=73AbBAAAQBAJ&redir_esc=y

But I think it's very good, crammed with details and info from original research by the author who, unfortunately, passed away years ago.

I ordered a copy of this book last week for about $34. It was the last copy Amazon had.

Wow, impressive that a library in Scandinavia has such a book available (unless you don't live in Sweden?). Harper and some others who used to post here are sadly gone now, and it is sad that he did not get to finish his book completely. All the best, Noggy

Steve Andrews was close with Harper.
Harper lived for a time on the Cheyenne Reservation connected with a number of descendents.
Some feel that that it has much opinion. But, any and all opinion was backed up by solid research. Both his daughter Tori and Steve were somewhat concerned about the last chapter.
Some archeology off park land has given credence to the late north to south battle flow, from the Ford D area. A worthwhile read.
Regards, Tom
