Jenny is welcome to post her work here, and this thread can be dedicated to her work.
Tubman, I'm not sure about the LBHA book room. I haven't been affiliated with that group for many moons!

Thank you Diane.this would be a great starting point. Any other thoughts you might have I'm sure Jenny would appreciate them. She may not know how close you were with Fred and how much he trusted you.
Regards, Tom

Please visit my blog to see a few of the paintings I've put up (sorry about the watermarks, but pirates are everywhere!) This site doesn't like my attachments even when they are less than 2 mb. jennyniemeyer.blogspot.comThanks! Jenny

This site doesn't like my attachments even when they are less than 2 mb. jennyniemeyer.blogspot.comThanks! Jenny I have just visited your blog-I like your work!I would think the Holy Grail might be Crazy Horse. There are no verified photos of him.According to some who knew him he believed the camera would rob him of his soul.He had lighter colored, somewhat curly hair.He had scar on face from a bullet wound(courtesy of jealous husband).More than a few who knew him(he died in 1877) thought that the silent movie Western actor,William S. Hart, greatly resembled him.Still others thought that Chief Black Elk was a close match.I have googled images of both of these men to see if there is a good resemblance between these two men.The photo of Black Elk that would be best is the photo of him taken with his wife and daughter(ca 1910).Bob Boze Bell,of True West Magazine,to my eyes anyway, based his painting solely on Black Elk(as an adolescent!)and the heck with Hart!Just for fun you might like to google Black Elk and Hart to see what you think in the way of any similarity!

I too really like what I'm seeing so far, thumbs up to Jenny. It may be that as a Norwegian, growing up in the early 90s there was a lot of talk about Black Metal and those artist often used "corpse paint", but for some reason I always felt NA warriors using black and white face paint were the "coolest".

I may have to change my current plan to paint soldiers, Indians that were KIA or DOW! Thanks for the tip. Hmm....

Yes, Miller was quite a guy. I admire that he set out to paint portraits of the remaining participants where he could find them on reservations. His work is priceless!

There's a lovely image HERE titled, Indian ponies drinking water in the predawn from the Little Bighorn River at Medicine Tail Ford, on True West in the article Riding for the Guidon about the cavalry school in Little Bighorn valley, near the battlefields.

A quick update and word of thanks to all of you who have helped me so far! I'm trying to be as accurate as I can and as a result my LBH library has grown considerably. This site is my go-to when things must be considered/gnawed on/discussed/dismissed from all angles. I wish Elisabeth was still here so she could critique my portrait of MK, shown here: www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/8724412510641995617/7638618682898562335Sorry its too large to post here!
