2021 - Battlefields in Montana and South Dakota

I received the following email from a website visitor:

I am planning a road trip with my son in mid august to early september and wanted to incorporate as many of the Indian battlefields in Montana and South Dakota as possible. I saw your posting with others on a website showing pictures of the Powder River site near Morehead on Highway 391 but a google map search only gets me in the general area. Are you aware of any internet resources showing a driving trail and exact drive to locations of many of these sites? I was also attempting to map sites near Busby and Birney. The area is far richer in history vs what I expected to find.

I'd appreciate your helping him.

I'm not pretending to be an expert on the travel, above was the '65 fight on the site of modern Ranchester. There is Montana's Warrior Trail which I would guess is what you are contemplating. If you go, enjoy.

Minnesota has a tourism web site which offers hikes with themes, I would not be surprised if the same goes for SD. Would check out them, personally.
