Firstly, I must admit I found this book whilst searching for anything that might help explain why I was/am obsessed with the ‘British Custer’ Durnford, when many others don’t give him the time of day, by my refusing to give on the study of him, when criticised by other enthusiasts and disagreed with by authors/historians.
I’m by no means a historian, but this book did give me an idea of trying to explain it, even just to myself, a sort of ‘Durnford And Me’ article or thesis.
Has anybody read this book ?
Does the book indeed explain why he studied the subject for so long ?
