Those of you on the LBHA e-mail "wire" that Ed Hallett distributes may remember that a month or so ago I asked for help on behalf of a man stationed in Afghanistan. Augie is attending the Sergeant Major Academy and selected Sharrow as his research topic. Many of you were very generous with your research, and I thank you for that.
About that time, I asked Augie if there was anything I could send him, and he graciously replied that he was in a safe place and really didn't need anything. I contacted him again yesterday and found that he is working on a project to help some other people.
I asked him for some ideas, and he sent me the following list. Please note that movies should be DVDs and music on CDs. Calling cards are always appreciated.
I found some DVDs of old movies and TV shows -- Red Skelton, Groucho, Laurel and Hardy -- at WalMart for $1.00 each, so deals can be found. If you would like to help with this project, please e-mail me and I'll send you Augie's address.
Thank you.

I’m working a project to take about 500 pounds of stuff out to a Forward Operating Base where I know some folks from Wisconsin and Minnesota. Their standard of living is not up to what mine is in this garrison and I want to make their day a bit better.

Any movies really,….the funny stuff, the war movies, the chick flicks.
A few people that I know of are trying to find the movie of “McHale’s Navy” (just a few years old),
or “Down Periscope” with Kelsey Grammar. “Sink the Bismark”, and John Wayne stuff – doesn’t have to be old or war stuff.
Music wise….country, some gentle rock and roll, though there are those younger folks who like the harder stuff…Just about anything.
For the ladies, the stuff that makes them feel better for a little while. Anything that lets them pamper themselves for just a little while.
