Hi everyone. My names Phil from the UK. I first became interested in LBH when my parents bought me a hardback illustrated book about the battle. Forty years on I still have the book, which like it's owner has suffered a bit of wear and tear. I discovered this excellent forum whilst browsing about the LBH ten years ago (long time lurker) and have followed many discussions and debates with great interest. I decided it was time to join following the purchase and reading of Freds superb Strategy Of Defeat At The Battle Of LBH book. I look forward to joining the discussions and have a few questions of my own.

Hi everyone. My names Phil from the UK. Phil, Welcome to these boards, our own version of "Never-Neverland." It is a delight to see you here, and I especially like it because I have the utmost admiration for you Brits (I hope you do not mind me using that term). I would also like to thank you for your very kinds words about Strategy. I hope you stay, contribute and enjoy yourself as much as I have over all these years. Very best wishes, Fred.

Hi Fred
Thank you for the welcome. The term Brits is fine by me.
I'll be hoping to contribute although there are so many areas where I lack knowledge.
Best Wishes Phil

Phil Welcome to the Board. The last time I checked Mississippi had diplomatic relations with Great Britain so we are good. Like you I lack a lot of information regarding the Little Big Horn which was my purpose in joining. You will find that questions are welcomed and quickly answered most of the time. Ignorance is not a condemnation but rather an admittance that one is seeking knowledge. I have asked most of the foolish questions so you will have to work hard to exceed my record. Again welcome, and I and the others look forward to your thoughts and questions. Regards Dave

Hello Dave
Thank you for the welcome. We have plenty of rivers where I live so Mississippi could almost be twinned with my town, no steamboats though sadly.
The wealth of knowledge on this site is staggering. Like you I seek knowledge and am willing to pay the price of a foolish question or two.
best Wishes Phil

Phil, I applaud you for coming out of lurker mode--that first post is always the hardest because you want to put your best foot forward and you aced it. As you mentioned the amount of knowledge on this board is staggering and they all want to share their passion for this subject-so I guess the only foolish question is the question unasked.
Welcome aboard.

Hello Beth Thank you for the welcome and kind words.
Rather soon after discovering and reading many threads on this board I had to disavow myself of 95% of what I thought I knew about LBH and was pleased to do so. Not only is truth often stranger than fiction it's also more interesting.
Best Wishes Phil

Phil,
Might be worth also looking at the CAGB (Custer Association of Great Britain) if you haven't already. I'm attending my first CAGB meeting in London on 7th November, travelling down from Stockport.
If I'm welcomed there like I was when I first posted on this site a couple of months ago it'll be a great day.

Joe, Make sure you introduce yourself to Kevin Galvin, Elisabeth Kimber, Robbie Doyle (if he is there), and Peter Russell. All really good people. They are the only ones I know and probably the only ones who know me. I have met Kevin, but have only corresponded with the others. Peter has contributed a lot to the 2nd edition of my first book. I think you will get a kick out of all of them: they know tons of stuff about the LBH... they make me look like a piker. Tell them all I said hello. Best wishes, Fred.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware there was a Custer Association of Great Britain. They've got a very good website.
I hope you have a great day next Sunday Joe.
