Chuck, Agree that initial reports are inaccurate. Switching between CNN and Skynews earlier today is a perfect example. Hostages killed and hostages freed. Nothing certain - be first to report. As to previous comments, I'm reminded of the letter Truman replied to a telegram: www.shapell.org/manuscript.aspx?169637Treat them as a beast.

Like Harry Chris, I have not lost a moments sleep over using a nuclear weapon against Japan. It was the right thing to do and the right solution for the problem and it resulted in bringing a nation state to its knees in a manner that did not entail any further casualties on our part.
Turning what I presume would be middle eastern and Asian cities in rubble however is not the right solution for the problem at hand.
You can kill the beast without destroying the barnyard where the beast may dwell. If an attack emanated from Dearborn, Michigan, and one will some day, would you advocate the destruction of that city?
Measured, targeted responses, along with proactive intervention before the act (that mean killing the buggers, because they are known to be what they are) may sound tame, perhaps even timid. but it is the right thing to do.

Well the French shot the other two (brothers) dead apparently after they did an impersonation of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and came running out a warehouse blazing away, there was also another terrorist attack in Paris this afternoon, again the French went in blasting and killed one, I don’t know what happened to the second, as it was a man and a woman, I think the man bought it.

If an attack emanated from Dearborn, Michigan, and one will some day, would you advocate the destruction of that city? Chuck, obviously no. We're on the same page here. No need to level the barnyard when dealing with a beast. Take out individuals, their camps, training centers and gathering points overseas. There will be innocents paying the price. We have to accept that. Sad as it is, these beasts protect themselves with children in hopes we will not send them to eternity. This is war of a nature where legal minds are consulted before targets are hit. And I think a mistake. We, imho, do enough intelligence work to understand our threats at home. Whether those threats are acted upon is another matter - we wouldn't want to hurt some group's delicate sensibilities. (sarcasm off) I'm not ignoring the sentiment (I'd use "mindset" but it's worn out elsewhere) of the country in WW2 as opposed to terrorism today. I don't want to carry a firearm to ensure some safety as I go to the grocery. Oh, my neighbor says that's: "Dearbornistan." Best, c.
