Especially since he could see blue troops beneath and he would not assume Meade was so stupid as to not take the highest ground on the entire field, since if the rebels took it, the whole Union line would have their right flank exposed. He reportedly said Meade, whom he knew, would make no error, although they knew Meade's limitations. It's a great gadget put to good use, but as with archaeology at LBH, it doesn't prove or even change much. At the LBH it would show what Benteen saw on his scout, what could be seen from the Crow's Nest, and what could be seen looking north from Reno field, from the village, from the various ridges.
