Here is a brief report from Col. Garland along with one from Maj. Blake about the battle of Cieneguilla, NM between the 1st Dragoons and Jicarilla and Ute warriors on March 30, 1854. Until later in the year at the Grattan affair, this was the Army's costliest battle with western Indians.
