Go for it brother. Love to see how this ends up myself. Rock Drill #2 is multi-tasking.

Chuck, it looks like someone has transported my command over to MTC, leaving Reno to fend for himself.
To Col. Montrose, William Sir is my attempt to carry this thread any further a futile task, or will you still except any new ideas on the course I am taking concerning my attack on the village. The bottom line is; has rock drill one still got legs or has rock drill two superseded number one.
Ian.

I created Rock Drill 2, with the intent that it would allow discussion on the first rock drill to continue.

The reasons for my troop placing’s are, to hold both the valley and timber, and strike the village from the left with up to six Companies, I would hold back my strike until the warriors have fully committed to attacking both Reno and Yates, I am not saying this tactic would be a success, but when the dust settles we would know if the Indians could really take on two forces at the same time.

Intermission
Okay, managing an internet board discussion is like herding cats.
So far, I think we have managed to have useful discussions.
My goal has been to analyze what the players knew, when they knew it, and what a reasonable person would do, given the situation.
This involves making assumptions and cutting corners to have a discussion. I have been waitig for DC to blast me on what I state as facts for discussing a particular event. As we get further,I am going to run into facts that may not be facts.
Group think can be dangerous when you assume away reality, I have seen real world missions go up in flames over this. (Patilla, Red Wings).
So we may have to adjust microscope in and out to stay reasonable.
This process is not perfect.
I will keep kicking the ball downfield, as long as I see that our discussion is staying productive.
I have conducted similar exercises for student officers in the Special Forces Qualification Course, and I have seen insights here as good or better than my average student class.
Thank all of you for your participation and support.
Respectfully,
William

Magpie,
You may want to read this thread. Go read the very beginning. I made an effort to apply a military decision process to help understand the battle.
I could try updating the model, if people are interested
Respectfully,
William
