Father's Day turned out way better than expected when my present turned out to be a short trip to the LBH,--air fare from Texas, rental car, and lodging--for the evening of Wed. June 23rd until Sun. the 27th for my son and me. It will be my son's first trip there and my second, the first having been in 1967. It won't be like the Big Jaunt Gordie had planned, but we intend to pay our respects to him while we're there.
Although we shouldn't have any problem filling every moment, I'd love to hear any "don't miss" or "you gotta see" (as well as any "don't bother with") suggestions. If there are horses to be rented (realizing that with the reenactment going on that both the likelihood and advisability of that are limited), trip to the Crow's Nest, knowledgeable guide who may not have been booked up since 2005, chance to meet one of y'all, or something else that anyone has to offer will be appreciated.--Monte
