Two stories today of interest to me, so I inflict it upon you. I haven't checked to see if others beat me to it. The first about the last speaker of the Wichita language. From the description, imagine the accuracy of white scout translators who'd spent an entire season or even a year or two with this tribe back in the day. Recall that in languages like Sioux and Algonquin (cannot recall the type of language name) that words achieve meaning in use. Do not know if this applies to Wichita. www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=106699&catid=339And this unrelated tale that somehow seems appropriate. www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=106694&catid=339#

One thing I'd like to say is that even now when conversing in English I think the way you express yourself or pronounce words or put inflection on them can definitly change the meaning of them, right? So I agree with that comment about language achieving meaning in use. Its also one of the reasons I find it difficult to express myself on a computer........cheers DC. I like the way you say things even if I don't like what you say, you're always interesting.....craw
