After a long delay, this marvelous collection of Americana re-opened today, and I was lucky enough to be in DC, so I popped in for a visit. Their "Price of Freedom" display is a must-see: everything from GAC's buckskin jacket, and a handgun found at LBH, to Sherman's campaign hat from the CW (complete with holes...don't know if they're from bullets or moths) to Sheridan's stuffed horse, Winchester (nee Rienzi, I believe). Also lots of fascinating things from other wars.
I was especially intrigued by John S. Mosby's CW uniform jacket...it is *so* tiny!
