I read this weekend a brief article about Maclean's writing. It mentioned that during the 50's and 60's he devoted some time to a work on Custer, but ultimately set it aside. Does anyone have knowledge of this effort; excerpts published, commentary, etc.?
The article caused me to drag out A River Runs Through It and discover that Maclean refers to Paul's girlfriend, a Northern Cheyenne, by the nickname Mo-nah-seh-ta and gives her female ancestors mutilating the defeated 7th.
