I'm pretty sure you were notified of this event last year and probably already have it on your calendars, but just in case . . . . It's been 31 years since a group of Auburn men came back from the Great Josh Billings RunAground Triathlon in Pittsfield, Mass. and decided to organize a similar event in Auburn.
After more than three decades it's fair to call their efforts successful. And even with a few changes, additions and tweaks over the years it remains the Myles Keogh Paddle, Wheel and Run, better known as the Great Race, and is, for many, the highlight of the local summer season.
The race was named for an Irish-born Civil War hero who died with Gen. George A. Custer at the Little Big Horn and is buried at Auburn's Fort Hill Cemetery. Source: www.syracuse.com/cayuga/index.ssf?/base/news-13/1217926514186541.xml&coll=1(Sorry -- I didn't have the link working properly.)

Unfortunately, I think you've got to compete to get the tee shirt. The bio is okay, except they seem to think he and Custer died at the Rosebud. But at least they spelled his name right!
