I kept hoping he would be like Swiss Cheese and mature with age, but it never happened. Though one must admit that his arguments, just like Swiss cheese, are full of holes. -- Yksin

Very true! ;D
The dear boy dropped me a note yesterday. I suppose he wanted to let me know he still trolls these boards. I'm beyond caring. . . .

There is apparently a species that hails from Switzerland by way of the Middle East. Turkey, I believe, which opens up a whole new line of puns.
Is that correct, David? Didn't you say you were from Turkey?

Just went to wikipedia regarding the Washita Battle. It seems our Swiss is now doing his hissing fitting full bore over there. Quite a record on his "activities"
Seems his rage is even worse than over here. Too bad. Someone with his knowledge of events twisting them into hate-filled attacks against anyone who disagrees.
Good analogy with the Swiss cheese and the holes.

Crazy, yksin tells about the problems Wikipedia has had with CSS on the Introductions board.
Thanks for the photos, Bubba! I heard years ago that there wasn't much to see at Washita. Is that all there is, or do they have a museum there now?

Those are some great photos, Bubba. Digital? The colors are amazing. I guess I gotta go back to Wikipedia and see WWIV ...
BTW--I told David to write you, Diane. Guess it didn't help, eh?

Great photos bubbabod.
As for Swiss cheese, I don't think that it matures with age. It simply goes mouldy.

Funny! ;D Trish, did you think he'd write something sane? Please, if anyone else is corresponding with one or both of the Evil Twins, leave me out of it!

Tricia, yeah, it is an old digital camera I bought from my son. Worked pretty well up until last month. I think it's seen its best days. Diane, actually, there's som to see at Washita. There's the pavillion type thing from where these pictures were taken with the granite slab telling about the battle. Then there's a walking self-guided tour. They have handouts with corresponding numbered posts telling what you're seeing. Or that's all they had three years ago. I stopped by after the LBHA seminar in Rapid City. It is about a mile or two from the very small town of Comanche. I met a young ranger at the battlefield who didn't know much about the battle. He told me to be sure and stop in town at their office where they have a nice video about the battle to watch. There I met a more senior ranger who I talked to for an hour or so about the battle, the LBH and Ft. Robinson, which had been his last station. We had a great chat. The new memorial or whatever that was mentioned in earlier posts didn't come up. Maybe it wasn't even on the drawing boards three years ago. When you leave town you cross over a small bridge over what is called Sergeant Major Creek. I asked them what that was all about. I hope I have this right, but I think he said the creek was named in honor of a Sgt. Major whose body was found near the creek and that he was one of Elliott's men. It's a pretty nice battlefield to walk, making sure you have the self-guiding literature or something to use as a guide. I've got a few more pictures of the place, but I'd have to go back over my notes to be able to relate what they are. But, yeah, I think Wahita is a pretty cool place to visit. It's way off the beaten path, though. It would be a nice trip to visit Washita, Adobe Walls, Palo Duro Canyon and a couple other historic sites to make a trip out of it.

Bubbabod--
Those are some really nice pics ... great, great work on your part. And I must take a moment to note how I absolutely bemoan the fact that just about everything made by anyone these days is so darn disposable. Your digital camera is at the End Times--already? When did we become such a throw-away society? Frustrating ... that said, I'd tell you to submit the photos to the LBHA Newsletter, but given the moment's politics ... sigh.
A bunch of writer pals and myself are planning The Official Road Trip to the Washita and Thereabouts ... your photos have made the desire to head west even stronger. I'm quite envious of your travels ... thanks for sharing the bounties you've encountered along the RV way.
Trish

Funny! ;D Trish, did you think he'd write something sane? Please, if anyone else is corresponding with one or both of the Evil Twins, leave me out of it! Diane-- I was feeling the wings of the dove of peace wrap about me, so I do completely apologize (I believe I was at LBH at the time, ya know--"peace through unity?"). I keep to my simplistic attitude--one my mentor holds as well: there is more which unites us than separates, but it seems I keep being proven wrong by folks who keep thinking they've got to win at all costs; like Custer is some kind of stupid competition like the damn Olympics! Sigh. And as a result of such attitudes, we all miss out on the opportunity to share some great research which will compliment all of our studies! But such is "Custerdom/dumb," eh? Still, I do like David--I just wish he'd mellow with the advance of old age. Life is too darn short for this stuff ... --t.
