All,
I've been asked to pass along some information in the hope that someone might be inspired.
George and Libbie Custer spent the Army of the Potomac's winter encampment of 1863-1864 in a farmhouse at Stevensburg, Virginia called Clover Hill. I saw Clover Hill today, and it's all boarded up. It's still a working farm, but the house is not occupied, and it's not in good shape. In fact, the longer that it stays vacant, the more it will deteriorate.
I was told today that the folks from the Brandy Station Foundation, which is the shepherd of the area and the organization responsible for the preservation of the various structures, is looking for someone who would be willing to step up to the plate and not only oversee the renovation of the house, but who might have the wherewithal to pay for it.
I was asked to post here, inquiring about this. If anyone is interested, please let me know, and I can put you in touch with the right people.
Eric
