Thanks for the site, Billy. I checked out their home site and reade a few of the stories. My dad was a Lt. Commander in the merchant marines during WWII, so I found it pretty interesting.

Frank, does he (or you) have any pictures from those days that you can scan & post? Even though I don't really like water over my head, I am a fascinated about the sea and those who sail them. Billy

No, Billy. All we have is a portrait of my dad in his uniform. It's a shame we never talked much about it. Basically he was the chief engineer on tankers in the North Atlantic. He retired in 1968 as the senior chief engineer of the Texaco fleet. A person couldn't do today what he did back then. Meaning, there was no maritime academy to go through like there is now. He came to the States from the Cayman Islands as a young man, worked on ships, working his way up to chief engineer. Can't do that today.

Greg Micno has written a book about his father's experiences on a submarine. I ca't remember the title off hand but it looked great at Barnes and Noble the other day. Bubbabob is that you in the picture. If so that's a sharp looking coat.

Chadron--
That's him, all right. And he stole the coat from a fellow at Fort Kearny when the guy turned his back. We actually had to show him how to hold the rifle.
Best wishes, Fred.

Remember, the original model for the reproduction Henry rifle that Frank is holding was ultimately used as a pin-cushion for arrows. Fred, since you are back, how do you like your image being linked to from CSS's site? I haven't had the nerve to look at it but a couple on LBHA Lite say that it is your image from this past summer's escapade at LBH. Billy

I am the one who took the video of Fred waving the guidon on Weir Point. In order to share this with other LBH buffs, I posted that video and others to Youtube. I have gotten a lot of good response about the videos (despite the fact that Fred is in that one).
Custerwest did not get my permission to use the video on his website. I didn't know he was using it until Melani, I think, mentioned she saw it on his site. I have gotten other emails inquiring whether or not he asked me first. The answer again is no he did not.
Youtube's terms of use however indicate that anyone can link to the submitted videos as long as they don't profit financially. I guess I can take them down off Youtube but that seems like a waste.

TD, that is the same conundrum I experienced with my web documents. Letting CSS and his ilk take advantage (not that they have, but...) of them without effort or sourcing grates my last nerve; however, I feel that I am short-changing those who honestly are researching, which to be frank, bugs me equally. I'm still tossing it up in the air and trying to reconcile my wants-documentation for the public-versus potential misrepresentation (or in one case, piracy without attribution). Billy

Treasuredude, Can you re-title the video to where it doesn't support CSS'S view? You know something like "Guidon experiment proves Benteen innocent!"
