Last year when I was in Tallahassee to defend a grant application, it was apparent the judges loved the museum in Dunedin. They couldn't pronounce the name, but I think they would have given that museum all of the grant money if they could. It must be something!

Most people who try saying Dunedin for the first time end up with "Dune-din" Or "Dunna-din" I can recall hearing voice over advertisements on radio and TV some years ago -- made locally -- who couldn't pronounce Dunedin correctly.
A British acquaintance of mine delighted in calling it "Done eatin' " (I don't speak to him anymore....)
Ancient gaelic name for Edinborough, Scotland. But our sister city is Sterling, Scotland.
