As I was perusing the Newsletter last night, I noted the title of Jack McCullough's article:
Custer's 7th Calvary in Harding County In 1874
Not only is the thing a bit clunky--I would have chosen 1874: Custer's Seventh Cavalry in Harding County, I at least would have spelled "calvary" properly ... well, unless crucifixions were taking place in the DT ...
There's a bunch of issues with misplaced or forgotten apostrophes ... what should be the Members' Forum is reduced to but one person: Member's Forum ...
Once again, we are seeing just how wonderful and editor Diane was ... I miss her professionalism!

Trish - "...I at least would have spelled "calvary" properly ... well, unless crucifixions were taking place in the DT ..."
Maj. Reno was crucified, but that was a couple of years later.
You have pointed out one of my pet peeves. One of the very, very few 'little' things that run me up and around the wall. I have NEVER been able to get my father straight on how to pronounce it either.

The editor in me might be able to forgive a lot of human errors, but calvary? Come on! I am also hatin the article about the Midwest Regional. I had no idea of what it actually was about, really. Here's another tasty delicacy:
The fact's of Brice's life ... ouch. And it was an article written by the editor!
Man, how I miss Diane! Come back to us, puleeze. --t. Chairchick, NACCers MST, the Nuthouse

Somebody:
I thought it was on here somewhere, but I can't find it. Can someone please outline for me:
1. The qualifications necessary to become a candidate for the Board of Directors. I assume that one must be a member.
2. When the voting takes place, Is it at one of the Annual General Meetings or at some other date?
3. How many spots on the Board become vacant in 2009. Tricia, my fave cousin, is running for one spot.
Thanks, anybody.

Reminds me of the scene in Ford's 'Horse Soldiers' where ol' Duke and the boys are deep in rebel territory and ride around singin' at the top pf there yankee lungs, 'l left my love for the U.S. Cavalry, Cavalry!'

MC MC Gordotime, The only requirements are being a member in good standing--which I probably won't be after I reply to Chairman Blake's haughty letter to me of this afternoon. I don't appreciate such a tone--it's just a sickening continuation of the condescending garbage that was apparent at North Platte. I'll see his chartered accountancy and raise him a magna cum laude. Elections are held in February which mean the only people who will vote are them what is the stuck in the Old Ways and those of us who care enought to see the postcard to the mailbox. But, if we want to turn this organisation into one that better serves the greater membership and their attitudes towards the somewhat blemished truth about Custer and to make the place more hospitable to we of Indian blood, we must make our voices heard. The LBHA needs to stop concerning itself with investing just for the hell of it or because, as they say, "it's there," but rather, it demands a return to an old fashioned notion in a 21st Century world: Customer Service. If this organisation--in the person of the Politburo Chairman--continues to threaten and belittle its members, they'll give up and choose Brand X or is that CBHMA? The Board of Directors need to realise that it is their duty to go out of their way to satisfy the membership and not the other way around. It's just a matter of time until we younger folks take the reins and turn this damn thing around. But until then, we need to plot and plan just what we are going to do to insure that actually happens. Back to the damn rewrites ... how did I forget that critique group is tomorrow?! --t. Oh, and here's another whoppingly wonderful title to an article (once again authored by the editor):
Brice C. Custer, 1927-2007: Teacher, Fighter Pilot, Author, Sailor, Pariot, Friend.[/b]
Yep, that's Pariot ... was he--while sailing about--carefully postioned on Long John Silver's shoulder, or was he Ryan Theriot's twin brother, Brian Periot Theriot?
Yikes!

I left my Love, my Love I left, A-sleepin' in her bed. I turned my back on my true Love, went fightin' Johnny Reb.
I left my Love a letter, in the holler of a tree. I told her she would find me in the U.S. Cavalry - in the U.S. Cavalry.
Hi-oh, down we go - there's no such word as "can't." We'll ride clean down to Hell and back, For Ulysses Simpson Grant.

Well, gee, it would be nice to use Spellcheck. Now, am I to understand that people have already gotten their November newsletters? I thought that when I pointed out that I hadn't yet gotten October, they would put me back on the mailing list.
