Manny is back and has always been a Yankee Killer. Ortiz is on a roll putting up outstanding production and average numbers.
Sox lost last night & Yankees won so lead is down to 2 with 3 to go. Still not worried about the Yankees until playoffs . . . even then it's Red Sox time.

Come on, Colonel ...
I think everyone knew--going in--that picking up Gagne was going to be a big chance; it simply hasn't turned out. He was pitching at far less than perfection in Texas (and in a non-closer role) and obviously, a change in locale didn't help. As for your theory that the Yanks would be willing to throw the remainder season just to avoid playing the Angels? It sounds pretty typical for an organisation that will do just about anything to win ... !
Ahh, yes. The Evil Empire. Go, Cubs ... and anyone who can beat the Yankees!

The Angels have the Yankees number this year. The Red Sox will have their hands full with them, but stand a better chance to come out on top and be ready for the real championship matchup in the 2nd round. Like the 7th of old, the Yankees can take on all the Indians of the plains (or at least Cleveland).
Baseball fans in NYC, refer to Cleveland as "the mistake on the lake".

You are aware of what happened to George and his crew after making a statement like that . . . and I don't mean Steinbrenner!

2007 Chicago Cubs ... Central Division Champs! Congratulations Trish. After all these years, its about time the Cubbies came in first place. They've got a strong team that should go far in the playoffs. The tandem of Ferguson Jenkins and Ken Holzman are among the best in baseball, and who can beat a lineup that's got Ron Santo, Ernie Banks, and Billy Williams? Keogh "my kind of town, chicago is....the wrigley building, chicago is; the chicago cubbies, chicago is....one town that won't let you down, its my kind of town......"

Of course, Colonel ... I know my team well enough to be not exactly optimistic, but rather guarded. But hey, we're playing in October and in one year, the Cubs went from worst to first; it's quite far cry from losing 96 last year. Now my biggest issue is what's more important--the playoffs or Custer Week? Here's hoping for a few afternoon games next week and forgiving hosts!
What a wonderful dilemma! And congrats, Crz ... YOUR BOSOX ARE THE CHAMPS! --t.
