Wow, as I sit here at my keyboard, I can only wish I was at the Battlefied once again. The last time I was there was on Father's Day in 2003 and before that I attended the Crow Fair about one year earlier.
Man, I think my most favorite time of the day at the battlefield is at sunset. At that time, the ravines and land features seem to come alive with distinction. I can surely remember a couple of spectacular sunsets where the sun was like a huge red ball. I can remember reading at least one soldiers acount of the same at the end of the first day on the 25th!
Hey, what was your most favorable moment while visiting the battlefield?

In 1961, moving from New York to California (via Little Big Horn of course) my wife and I stayed for the night on the Crow Indian Reservation. Being close to the battlefield, we arrived at daybreak the next morning. There was no one around. There were no sounds - - no wind, no birds, no trees rustling, no nothing. It was like being in a vacuum. If I had to describe this silent place in one word, that word would be "ghostly". I'll never forget it.
