I kind of have to laugh when I hear that many people who visit Deadwood are upset that the whole town is full of gambling casinos......Uhhh that is exactly what it was in its heyday plus a little more. Man, I'm not one to gamble, but my Dad and I sure did enjoy that tender 8oz. Black Angus sirloin dinner for $1.99 each at the "The Tin Lizzy" and that included the ice tea!Grave of James Butler Hickock "Wild Bill" Born: May 27, 1837, at Homer, Illinois - Died: August 2, 1876, Deadwood, Dakota Territory. He once scouted for Custer against the Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Arapaho.
This is the way it looks now, but I think I kinda like the way it used to look. This was taken on my last trip up there and they were renovating the cemetery and fixing things up. I love to walk up there from town to get the full experience. It is up on Mt. Moriah and when you walk back down, the view is great of Deadwood.Grave of Martha Canary or better known as Calamity Jane (1848-1903). Here grave was also fixed up during the renovation. It is right beside Hickock honoring her request. She once scouted for General Crook.
