Here are some wagon ruts left from the wagons on the Oregon Trail near Fort Laramie, Wyo. This is me and my two troopers back in 1984.
A little story I like to tell of this experience. My youngest son's teacher called my wife one day and said she needed to talk to her about him. She said that they were covering things about American history and it seemed no matter what they were covering, i.e. The Oregon Trail, Yellowstone, The Civil War Battle Field, Jamestown, Va., to name a few places, that my son would raise his hand and begin telling her about having been there and what he saw. The teacher told my wife that she did not want to believe he was lying, but found it hard to believe he had been to all of these places they were studying. My wife smiles and looks the teacher in the eye and said, " He has. Many of our vacations have been history oriented, He has grown up hiking the Civil War Battlefields of Virginia to the Little Bighorn, and yes even the Oregon Trail." Of course, every once in a while I have to promise to go on a vacation where there are no historical hot spots.

Tim, that is a totally great story about your wife and kids and touring historic places. What a real gift to share with your family, and it's great they seem to like to share it with you. Sounds like you have one awesome family!
