Thanks for that, Bubba - much appreciated, and very interesting. I particularly like that list of activities in addition to trading at the rendezvous: 'gamble, drink, frolic, pray and scheme.' Life's rich tapestry - even in the wilderness!

And we can only imagine the type of "revelry" that Mt. Men & Indians enjoyed. Both lived life to the fullest and sometimes it was impossible to tell where the Mt. Man left off and when the Indian began.
Some of the Mt. Man books I've read regarding the rendezvous seemed outrageously wild and full-speed ahead . . . ah, the good ol' days when there was still wildnerness in the lower 48s and people were truly free, both red & white!
