Taken June 2003 at the marker on Crook's Hill at the Rosebud Battlefield. This is my Dad, once a member of the 7th Cavalry at Camp Casey in South Korea. He was a real trooper at 71 years of age. On this trip he followed me through the trails at Big Hole Battlefield, up Pompey's Pillar, all over LBH Battlefield and to Crook's Hill. At that point he told me he just could not go anymore so I spared him the extended hike to Conical HIll. He was with the 15 BN Field Artillery, 2nd Infantry Division in the Korean War and with the Americal Division in South Viet Nam.

Greetings Lawtonka
Thanks for posting all of your photos. I am new to LBHA and have enjoyed your other postings. I am envious of all the great shots you took of the LBH plus the two shots of the camps of June 22-23. When I first visited LBH in Oct 2005 (the day I caught Custer fever), we were unable to go to the locations where you took your shots - only up that main road past LSH until the sign that said "Private Property."
Because of your photos, I can now better visualize more parts of the battle. Thanks again for sharing.
P.S. Loved the one of your Dad - you were blessed to be able to take this trip with him.

Thanks for your kind words. I enjoy taking photographs and sharing them with others. The thing nice about revisiting the battelfield is when you return it is easier to break away from the main attraction and venture out. After reading more and more about the LBH story, you will discover there is a lot more to learn and see beyond Last Stand HIll. Hope you will get a chance to go back there again and see more of it.
I would not take anything for that trip with my Dad, On that trip as we were traveling over in the Bozeman area on the way to Big Hole, he told me that he was glad to get to see this country before he died. Last April, we were planning a return trip to Fort Sill, Oklahoma and he was diagnosed with cancer. He is unable to travel now, so I am thankful for that opportunity to take him with me.

Tim, another great picture, but I think more impressive is the story about your dad. That is quite a hike from the parking lot to Crook's Hill, and my hat's off to him. But even more important is his service to our country. I'm so glad you guys got to share that trip together, and I'm very sorry to hear of his medical condition, and best of luck to him. Keep those pictures coming!

Thanks Frank,
I appreciate your kind words.
It is nice to be able to share my pictures in a place where they can be appreciated. I think John and I are the only two people in South Carolina who are afflicted with the Custer disease.
