This is the field where some of the Reno Battalion were killed and wounded. The tree line in the background is the location of the Little Bighorn River Scout "Lonesome" Charley Reynolds was found in the vicinity of this memorial erected to his memory. He was shot through the heart when he stopped near Dr. Henry Porter who was treating a wounded man. Later re-interred in Detroit, Michigan.Isaiah was an African American/Sioux employed as an interpreter for the 7th Cavalry. He was killed within some 30 feed of Charlie Reynolds.
I missed getting a picture of Lt. Donald McIntosh marker. The grass was pretty high and I just lost my nerve not having my snake boots on that day ! His marker was near the timber in this same area. He remains were exhumed twice, once in July 1877 and moved to Fort Leavenworth, and again in October 1909 when moved to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
