This board is for the posting of photos with brief narratives. Please note the following conditions: - Photographs posted here must be the property of the poster. If you did not take the photograph, do not post it without permission from the photographer or copyright holder. If you obtain permission, place the notation "Permission Granted" under the photo along with whatever information the grantor wants, such as his name and/or website address.
- If the photograph is in public domain, you may post it along with its source. Just because a photo is on the Internet does not mean it is in public domain; in fact, most photographs on websites are not. Most museum and gallery websites will have information concerning the use of its photographs. If an institution allows the use for nonprofit or educational use, you may post it here. If you have any doubt, don't post it. Any questionable photos will be removed.
- In order to post to this board, the photograph must be on a server. If you do not have access to server space, you can send digital photos (.jpg or.gif) to LBHA@cox.net, and I will try to get the photos up for you within 24 hours. Please be very clear about where you want your photos placed.
- If you have access to a server, it is easy to insert your photos. Simply place the photo's address within the image tags, so it looks like this except that brackets are used rather than parentheses: (img)http://www.yourdomain.com/SittingBull.jpg(/img)
- Please make your photos a maximum of 750 pixels wide so they don't blow out the board.
If you have questions, please write to LBHA@cox.net.

[/img][/quote] Bubba, First click the tool symbol that looks like a landscape picture. You'll get this come up: [/IMG]. Place your cursor directly between the image parameters thus: your cursor here [/IMG] then click and paste your image without moving the cursor. Should work then! Just edited this to make things clearer (I hope!) Ciao, GAC

Actually, the tags shown in your message should be a single set of img and /img, not img and /url.
I tried to fix the address in your post above, but it is not displaying an image from that web address. Something is wrong with the web address.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to adjust Diane when I realised! But the system won't let me post just the symbols for an image without an actual image url between them - and they've disappeared from my post! Hopefully you writing it out phonetically will help.
Ciao, GAC

Thanks for helping, GAC.
Bubba, don't get discouraged. Once you figure it out, you'll be posting photos like a pro.

[IMG.][/IMG]
Got around it with a '.'!
Bubba, After you click the picture tool symbol, you'll get: [IMG.][/IMG] but without the dot after the first 'IMG'.
Place your cursor between them thus: [IMG.] cursor here[/IMG], don't move it and click and paste in your image URL.

Bubba, part of the problem is that you need to go just to the photo. You can't post the photo from that page which shows the photo but has the menu down the left side. You can link to it by using the url, /url tags in brackets but, if you want the photo to appear within a message, you must click on the photo so that only the photo appears in your window and copy that address. The address must end in an image designation, such as .jpg I tried to revise your post again to show the address for just the photo, which is server3.pictiger.com/img/255471/picture-hosting/ft.-robinson.jpg, but that redirects to your web page rather than the photo. Hmmm.... It still won't post in the message itself, so I'll look at the instructions for that website to see if I can figure it out for you. Don't give up!

OK -- Here's the answer in their FAQ:
"Hot linking is embedding an image into a message board, personal webpage, or ebay auction. You can not hotlink your large version of the image, but you can hotlink your thumbnail and link it to the larger image."
I thought Lawtonka was using that service for all of his photos, but he apparently just uses it for the thumbnails (the set of mini-photos that you can click to see the larger ones).
I think we'd better find a different service for you to use. If you have access to web space through your internet provider or e-mail service, you can put the photo on there and link it.
I'll be back in a few minutes.

Lawtonka is using www.photobucket.com. It says right on their home page that you can copy your links and post on any website. Please try that service. It is also free. Sorry for the misdirection! The last time I corresponded with Lawtonka, he was using PicTiger, and I didn't realize that was for the thumbnails only. Thanks for your assistance, GAC!

Got it! What you need to do Bubba is right-click on the picture you want to post. On the window that pops up you'll see 'Properties' at the bottom. Right click on that. On the window that then pops up you'll see 'Address (URL)'. Cut the address alongside that - as Diane said, it ends 'jpg'. Then that is the URL you paste in between the [IMG.][/Img] symbols on the posting page here.

The last time I corresponded with Lawtonka, he was using PicTiger, and I didn't realize that was for the thumbnails only. Thanks for your assistance, GAC! That is correct, I started using Pictiger, it is a good site but I kinda like Photobucket better, it is less advertisement oriented. Photobucket will also allow you to post multiple images and provide a code to copy with one click. When you come over to the message board all you have ot do is paste it. It is not neccessary to click on insert image button, the code is complete and ready to use for pasting.
Thre is also tools on Photobucket to let you resize your photo at the click of a button to reduce it i.e. 75%, 50% and if you wish you can add captions.
It is best to create an album for yourself so that all of your LBH photos will be in the same folder.
You can also upload many images at once.
When you go to your photo album, you can check the box for each photo you want to paste into the message board and click for one code to be created to carry over the multiple images.
I tried one other photo host The Image Hosting, but had problems with that site. I don't think they maintain their server and it was unreliable.
If I can help anyone, please let me know. Right now, I am using Photobucket exclusively. You can also create slide shows and video clips there.
