The National Park Service has a web site entitled Soldier and Brave which is devoted to "Historic Places Associated with Indian Affairs and the Indian Wars in the Trans-Mississippi West." Very nice site with lots of information. Some of it is dated, however don't let that be a deterrent. The site is broken down into four sections: Historical Background, Survey of Historical Sites & Buildings, Suggested Reading and Credits. There are some nice maps in the historical background section while the Survey section deals with individual locations. In the Survey section, if you page forward two pages, they have the site listed by state. Here is the link: www.nps.gov/history/history/online_books/soldier/index.htmEnjoy, Billy

There is also a book covering this which was published many years ago (Soldier & Brave). I think it was put out by the NPS. So it appears this site provides the same info as in the book.
Either way the book and/or this site is very good with descriptions of events, locations, people, importance, etc.

Today when I opened it and saw National Park Service, I immediately Googled it and found the site. Since it is a government agency, I should now be able to use copies of those maps for the project from Hell without having to worry about copyright; of course I will source and credit the NPS for the use of them. Billy,
This is a wonderful sight that I marked for my favorite places. Lots of good information.
Forgive me for not being up to par, but may I ask what is the "Project from hell"?

Of course the "Internet Police" will be watching you for scoping out "historic" sights for targeting!

Billy,
Are there more maps in the book than on the website? The few I've seen on the website are hard to read even when enlarged.
Nice site. Thanks! Diane
