I copied the individual pdf files to my site for any and all to download. I haven't created an index yet so just type in the main URL and substitute the X with beginning letter of the various surnames:

freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~familyinformation/Heitman/heitman_X.pdf

The X is the beginning letter of the surname for each file. Here are the file names:

Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 5CD2-C93F

Am I missing a trick? (I don't think it can be a Mac vs. PC thing, as I can get the rest of your website just fine.)

Did you simply 'click' on the link provided?

If so, copy and paste the entire line into the search box. ('X.pdf' at the line's end doesn't respond to the mouse)

Manually change the 'X' to an 'A' and click the 'go' function. See if that works for you. It did for me. From that point I believe you can navigate between pages by altering the line in the search.
From 'A' to 'B' and so forth.

I thought that was what I'd done -- but maybe the initial is case-sensitive? I was assuming from that directory list that it was lower-case. I'll try again using an upper-case initial and see if that works. Thanks again!

It is handy isn't it? Michael, thanks for clearing up my muddled directions. Elisabeth, the replacement for the X is indeed lower case.

Ah well. As it happens, just the other day I finally got around to downloading the whole massive thing from the link and directions you gave some time ago (I didn't have a working CD drive to file it off until recently) so I can get at the information eventually; just that this promised to be such a lovely short cut. Serves me right ... "Lazy people take the most pains" and all that ...!

Copy & paste the link you are typing on a PM and I will see if I see anything.

If nothing else, I can always copy them to a CD or DVD and mail them to you.
