Two days ago I got to hold what may have been Benteen's pistol. The owner, who wants to remain anonymous, brought the gun up from Atlanta to show at a gun show and later brought it over to my friend's home. The serial number fits in. It has been renickled, having previously been in a fire??! It goes back to an Atlanta dentist who owned in in the early 1900's. Could be Benteen's weapon he used at the LBH. The serial number certainly fits...pretty exciting stuff to hold it. I'll have Diane post the photo I took.
