Some wonderful stuff here: www.cr.nps.gov/mwac/Publications/pdf/tech86.pdfIts principal subject is archaeological discoveries at the site of the Pawnee Fork village, which is fascinating enough in itself. But it's even better if you scroll through to the section devoted to official reports and correspondence. You get Sherman, Wynkoop, Hancock et al arguing back and forth; and it's even got letters from the Indian agents at Fort Zarah in 1866, listing the goods they've distributed to the Indians etc. Quite an eye-opener. Enjoy!
