Howdy all! I'm a Lt Col in the US Air Force and I've been a huge Custer nut all my life. I just recently found this board and I look forward to getting to know ya'll better and contributing as much as I can. I'm deploying to Iraq next month so please forgive any extended absences on the boards in advance...I hear the internet access over there has more issues than Reno and Benteen combined!
Cheers! Chappie

Welcome, Chappie! I'm glad you found us!
My husband is the historian for the 53d Wing at Eglin. Enjoy your remaining time stateside -- especially in my home state of Virginia -- and please try to keep in touch while you are overseas.
Best wishes, Diane
P.S. The photo of Chuck and me was taken at the Air Armament Museum. That's why there's a photo of a plane behind us.

Chappie:
Welcome indeed, and good luck on your posting. Stay in touch as much as you can, we can use added voices to fan the flames of debate. Or something.

Welcome Chappie, and yes - add my heartfelt best wishes for a successful and safe deployment.
Just try and keep your postings in English. I'm confused enough already.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll try not to let too many West Virginia-isms (my home state...the LOYAL Virginia) slip through my posts Diane...I've never been stationed at Eglin but I did do a tour in Lower Alabama at Tyndall AFB. I had a good friend who worked at the Air Armament Center as an intel officer, Chris Marqwardt. Maybe your husband has crossed paths with her there. Cheers, Chappie

You were close to us. We live across the bay from Destin.
Chuck is up at Maxwell this week, but I'll ask if he knows your friend.

Chappie,
Enjoy your stay in Iraq...if you are going to Baghdad, I have a good friend in our office here (Army) who just came back from a year at the main compound there (Division headquarters) if you need any info or even more advice than you are already flooded with. <g>
I'm sure you'd rather be at Eglin...I had a wonderful three weeks with the USAF there at the Joint school a few years ago. Beaches with the OClub are the best in the country!
Take a LBH map with you, in case your connectivity over there is better than you expect. <g>
Good luck, Clair
